Believing Tikka Khan and Lalu Chowdhury, my father gave me ten thousand taka. Ten thousand taka is enough.

I went out of the house with them with the necessary things. They told me, “We will go to the training camp by river.”

So we first went to Balipara Ghat in Trishal. From there I went to Shambhuganj in Mymensingh in a trawler carrying vegetables across the Brahmaputra river. We rented a trawler and got off.

Changing the vegetable trawler, we boarded a trawler carrying sand. The trawler is preparing to take sand from Shambhuganj to Jamalpur.

We got on the sand trawler and found out that they would take the sand to Jamalpur Bazar.

The trawler carrying sand reached Jamalpur market after a long time.

We ate at a shop in Jamalpur Bazar and got into another trawler. From there I got on another trawler, crossed Sarishabari and Tarakandi in Jamalpur and reached a ghat on the river Jamuna.

But surprisingly, Lalu or Tikka Khan also doesn’t know where to go from this ghat. That means they have never been to that camp before.

The two of them necessarily went to a shop and talked to a man. Then the man called another man. We were told this man was a trawler.

টিক্কা খান ও লালু চৌধুরীর কথা বিশ্বাস করে আমাকে আব্বা দশ হাজার টাকা দিলেন। দশ হাজার টাকা এক চিল্লার জন্য যথেষ্ট।

প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস নিয়ে ওদের সঙ্গে বাড়ি থেকে বের হলাম। আমাকে ওরা বলল, ” নদী পথ দিয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ ক্যাম্পে যাওয়া হবে। “

তাই আমরা প্রথমে গেলাম ত্রিশালের বালিপাড়া ঘাটে। সেই স্থান থেকে ব্রহ্মপুত্র নদ দিয়ে সব্জি বহনকারী একটা ট্রলারে করে চলে গেলাম ময়মনসিংহের শম্ভুগঞ্জে। ট্রলারের ভাড়া দিয়ে আমরা নেমে পড়লাম।

সব্জির ট্রলার বদল করে আমরা বালু বহনকারী একটা ট্রলারে উঠলাম। ট্রলারটা শম্ভুগঞ্জ থেকে বালু নিয়ে জামালপুর যাওয়ার প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে।

আমরা বালুর ট্রলারে উঠে জানতে পারলাম, ওরা বালু নিয়ে জামালপুর বাজার পর্যন্ত যাবে।

বালু বহনকারী ট্রলারটা অনেকক্ষণ পর জামালপুর বাজারে পৌঁছাল।

আমরা জামালপুর বাজারের একটা দোকানে খাবার খেয়ে আরেকটা ট্রলারে উঠলাম। সেই স্থান থেকে আরেকটা ট্রলারে উঠে চলে গেলাম জামালপুরের সরিষাবাড়ী ও তারাকান্দি পেরিয়ে একেবারে যমুনা নদীর একটা ঘাটে।

কিন্তু আশ্চর্যের বিষয় হল, এই ঘাট থেকে কোথায় যেতে হবে, সেটা লালু অথবা টিক্কা খানও জানেনা। অর্থাৎ ওরাও আগে কখনো সেই ক্যাম্পে যায়নি।

অগত্যা ওরা দুজন একটা দোকানে গিয়ে এক লোকের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করল। তখন সেই লোকটা আরেক লোককে ডেকে আনল। আমাদেরকে বলা হল, এই লোক ট্রলারের মাঝি।

মাঝির সঙ্গে সেই স্থান থেকে আরেকটা ছোট ট্রলারে করে রওয়ানা হলাম যমুনা নদীর আরো গভীর এলাকায়। (চলবে) ©️All Right Reserved by Junayed Ashrafur Rahman
