In the morning a gentleman came to RJ Chowdhury. RJ Chowdhury asked, “How can I help you?”
Then the gentleman said, “My name is Samrat Khan. I do business. But I am educating my son without engaging in business. My son has got a chance in medical college this year. But one of our local leaders has stopped my son’s admission. All the documents for my son’s admission. Necessary, this leader has seized them so that my son can’t get admission in medical college despite getting a chance. Now you have to help my son to get admission in medical college.”
RJ Chowdhury said, “Yes, I can, but I can’t do it without money.”
On hearing this, Samrat Khan said, “Yes, I know that. You don’t do anything without money. In a word, don’t drive away the wild animals by eating yourself. I have come to you knowing that.”
Hearing this, RJ Chowdhury said his demand. Then Samrat Khan took out many notes of 1000 TK from his wallet and gave them to RJ Chowdhury. RJ Chowdhury counted the money and put it in his pocket and said, “Where is your house?”
Samrat Khan then said,“My house is in Bilaidah. My son has passed SSC from government high school in Bilaidah. And passed HSC from Bilaidah Govt College. This time he got a chance by passing the medical admission test. But a leader of Bilaidah has put my son in this problem.”
Hearing this, RJ Chowdhury went to Bilaidah with Samrat Khan.
RJ Chowdhury appeared to that leader and said, “Why have you seized the admission papers of my client’s son?”
Hearing this, the leader said, “That boy didn’t get a chance in medical college by himself.”
Hearing this, RJ Chowdhury said, “He took the exam himself, passed the entrance exam himself. Now he will get admission in the medical college. And you say he didn’t get a chance on his own?”
Hearing this, the leader said, “Yes, of course. That boy never got a chance on his own. Instead, he got a chance in medical college because of my encouragement.”
Now RJ Chowdhury said to that leader, “What’s the matter? With your encouragement, he got a chance in the entrance exam. And is it not necessary that he studied hard and passed the exam himself?”
Hearing this, the leader said, “Of course, if I had not encouraged the boy more, then he would not have studied. It is far from getting a chance in medical college.”
Hearing this, RJ Chowdhury said,“I do not agree with you. He got a chance in medical college by studying day and night, and somehow you are taking credit now with encouragement.”
Hearing this, the leader said, “When that boy went to college, he used to meet me every day. And I used to say with a smile, ‘Your future is bright. The country of the future is in your hands.’ Hearing these words of mine, the boy was encouraged and studied well. Now he has got a chance in medical college. Now it is my credit to give that boy a chance in medical college. So, I have to appease him and get admission with the papers.”
On hearing this, RJ Chowdhury said in a challenging tone, “If I can prove that the boy got a chance in medical college not by your encouragement, but through his talent. Will you still keep his documents withheld?”
The leader then said, “If you can prove it today, I will give all the documents of that boy so that he can be admitted to the medical college.”
Then the boy was called. RJ Chowdhury then showed the boy to the leader and said, “Do you know this gentleman?”
The boy said, “I don’t know much. On the way to college, I saw this gentleman and heard him say many things. But I didn’t care much about them.”
RJ Chowdhury then asked questions about various things from the boy’s syllabus. The boy answered all the questions correctly. Again, the boy was given some new MCQs to read. When he finished reading, RJ Chowdhury asked the boy about it. Then the boy answered all the questions correctly.
Then RJ Chowdhury said to the leader, “Now you have seen how the boy proved that he has passed the admission test according to his merit?”
Hearing this, the leader said, “Basically, I was confused. Until now, I used to think that the students were encouraged to listen to my talk and the studies were successful. Now I see that the students don’t care about me. Rather, they themselves are succeeding through their talents. And through you today I am free from my confusion.”
On hearing this, RJ Chowdhury said, “You try to be successful in your party and politics by excluding these things. Don’t play with people’s sons and daughters unnecessarily.”
The leader said, “That’s what I have to do. Instead of playing with people’s sons and daughters, I have to try how to take a big position in my party and how to become a big leader in my area.”

“এক নেতাকে আরজে চৌধুরী বিভ্রান্তি থেকে মুক্ত করল।”
সকালবেলা এক ভদ্রলোক এসে উপস্থিত হলো আরজে চৌধুরীর কাছে। আরজে চৌধুরী জিজ্ঞেস করল,”আপনাকে আমি কীভাবে সহযোগিতা করতে পারি?”
তখন ওই ভদ্রলোক বললেন,”আমার নাম সম্রাট খান। আমি বিজনেস করি। কিন্তু আমার ছেলেকে বিজনেসে না জড়িয়ে লেখাপড়া করাচ্ছি। আমার ছেলেটা এ বছর মেডিকেলে চান্স পেয়েছে। কিন্তু আমাদের স্থানীয় এক নেতা আমার ছেলের ভর্তি বন্ধ করে দিয়েছে। ছেলের ভর্তি হওয়ার জন্য যত কাগজপত্র দরকার, সেগুলো ওই নেতা আটক করেছে, যাতে আমার ছেলে মেডিকেলে চান্স পাওয়া সত্ত্বেও ভর্তি হতে না পারে। এখন আমার ছেলেকে মেডিকেলে ভর্তি হওয়ার জন্য আপনাকে সহযোগিতা করতে হবে।”
আরজে চৌধুরী বলল,”হ্যাঁ আমি পারব, তবে বিনা পয়সায় আমি সেটা পারব না।”
এ কথা শুনে সম্রাট খান বললেন,”হ্যাঁ, আমি সেটা জানি। আপনি টাকা ছাড়া কোন কাজ করেন না।এক কথায় বলতে গেলে, নিজের খেয়ে বনের মোষ তাড়ান না। সেটা আমি জেনেশুনেই আপনার কাছে এসেছি।”
এ কথা শুনে আরজে চৌধুরী নিজের ডিমান্ড বলল। তখন সম্রাট খান নিজের মানিব্যাগ থেকে এক হাজার টাকার অনেকগুলো নোট বের করে আরজে চৌধুরীকে দিলো। আরজে চৌধুরী টাকাগুলো গণনা করে নিজের পকেটে নিয়ে বলল,”আপনার বাড়ি কোথায়?”
সম্রাট খান তখন বললেন আমার বাড়ি বিলাইদহে। আমার ছেলে বিলাইদহের সরকারি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয় থেকে এসএসসি পাস করেছে। এবং বিলাইদহ সরকারি কলেজ থেকে এইচএসসি পাস করেছে। এবার মেডিকেলে ভর্তি পরীক্ষা দিয়ে চান্স পেয়েছে। কিন্তু বিলাইদহেরই এক নেতা আমার ছেলেকে এই সমস্যায় ফেলেছে।
এ কথা শুনে সম্রাট খানের সঙ্গে আরজে চৌধুরী গেল বিলাইদহে।
আরজে চৌধুরী ওই নেতার কাছে উপস্থিত হয়ে বলল,”আপনি আমার মক্কেলের ছেলের ভর্তির কাগজপত্র আটক করেছেন কেন?”
এ কথা শুনে সেই নেতা বলল,”ওই ছেলে নিজে নিজে মেডিকেলে চান্স পায়নি।”
এ কথা শুনে আরজে চৌধুরী বলল,”সে তো নিজে পরীক্ষা দিয়েছে, নিজে ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হয়েছে। এখন সে মেডিকেলে ভর্তি হবে। আর আপনি বলছেন সে নিজে নিজে চান্স পায়নি?”
এ কথা শুনে ওই নেতা বলল,”হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই। সেই ছেলেটা নিজে নিজে কখনো চান্স পায়নি। বরং আমার উৎসাহে সে মেডিকেলে চান্স পেয়েছে।”
এখন আরজে চৌধুরী সেই নেতাকে বলল,” এটা কোন কথা হলো? আপনার উৎসাহে সে ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় চান্স পেয়েছে। আর নিজে নিজে যে পরিশ্রম করে পড়াশোনা করে পরীক্ষা দিয়েছে, সেটার কি কোন গুরুত্ব নাই?”
এ কথা শুনে সেই নেতা বলল,”অবশ্যই, আমি যদি ছেলেটাকে বেশি বেশি উৎসা না দিতাম, তাহলে সে পড়াশুনাই করত না। মেডিকেলে চান্স পাওয়া তো দূরের কথা। এ কথা শুনে আরজে চৌধুরী বলল,”আমি আপনার কথায় একমত না। দিনরাত পড়াশোনা করে সে মেডিকেলে চান্স পেল, আর আপনি কীভাবে না কীভাবে উৎসাহ দিয়ে এখন কৃতিত্ব নিচ্ছেন।”
এ কথা শুনে নেতা বলতে লাগল,”ওই ছেলেটা যখন কলেজে যেত, তখন প্রতিদিনই আমার সঙ্গে দেখা হতো। আর আমি হাসতে হাসতে বলতাম,’তোমাদের ভবিষ্যৎ উজ্জ্বল। ভবিষ্যতের দেশ তোমাদের হাতে।’ আমার এ কথাগুলো শুনে ছেলেটা উৎসাহিত হতো আর ভালো করে পড়াশুনা করত। এখন সে মেডিকেলে চান্স পেয়েছে। এখন ওই ছেলের মেডিকেলে চান্স পাওয়ার কৃতিত্ব আমার। তাই আমাকে তুষ্ট করে কাগজপত্র নিয়ে ভর্তি হতে হবে।”
এ কথা শুনে আরজে চৌধুরী চ্যালেঞ্জের সুরে বলল,”আমি যদি প্রমাণ করতে পারি, ওই ছেলে আপনার উৎসাহে না, বরং নিজের মেধার মাধ্যমে মেডিকেলে চান্স পেয়েছে। তাহলেও কি ওর কাগজপত্র আপনি আটক রেখে দেবেন?”
নেতা তখন বল,”আজকে যদি সেটা প্রমাণ করতে পারেন,তাহলে আমি ওই ছেলের সকল কাগজপত্র দিয়ে দেব, যাতে সে মেডিকেলে ভর্তি হতে পারে।”
তখন ওই ছেলেকে ডেকে আনা হলো। ছেলেটাকে তখন আরজে চৌধুরী ওই নেতাকে দেখিয়ে বলল,”তুমি কি এই ভদ্রলোককে চেন?”
ছেলেটা তখন বলল,”আমি তেমন কিছুই চিনি না। কলেজে যাওয়া আসার পথে এই ভদ্রলোককে দেখতাম আর অনেক কিছুই বলতে শুনতাম। তবে আমি সেগুলোতে তেমন পাত্তাই দিতাম না।”
আরজে চৌধুরী তখন ওই ছেলের সিলেবাস থেকে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে প্রশ্ন করল। ছেলেটা তখন সকল প্রশ্নেরই ঠিক ঠিক উত্তর দিলো। আবার ছেলেটাকে কিছু নতুন এমসিকিউ পড়তে দিলো। পড়া শেষ হলে ছেলেটাকে আরজে চৌধুরী সেগুলো জিজ্ঞেস করল। তখন ছেলেটা সকল প্রশ্নেরই ঠিক উত্তর দিল।
তখন নেতাকে আরজে চৌধুরী বলল,”এবার দেখেছেন, ছেলেটা কীভাবে প্রমাণ করে দিলো, সে নিজের মেধা অনুযায়ী ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হয়েছে?”
এ কথা শুনে নেতা বলল,”মূলত আমি নিজেই বিভ্রান্তিতে ছিলাম। এতোদিন আমি মনে করতাম, আমার কথাবার্তা শুনে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা উৎসাহিত হয় আর পড়াশোনা সফল হয়। এখন তো দেখছি ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা আমার কথা পাত্তাই দেয় না। বরং ওরা নিজেরাই নিজেদের মেধার মাধ্যমে সফল হচ্ছে। আর আপনার মাধ্যমে আজ আমি আমার বিভ্রান্তি থেকে মুক্ত হলাম।”
এ কথা শুনে আরজে চৌধুরী বলল,”এগুলো বাদ দিয়ে কীভাবে নিজের দলে এবং রাজনীতিতে সফল হতে পারেন, সে চেষ্টা করেন। অযথাই মানুষের ছেলে-মেয়েকে নিয়ে ছিনিমিনি খেলবেন না।”
তখন ওই নেতা বলল,”এটাই করতে হবে। মানুষের ছেলে-মেয়েকে নিয়ে ছিনিমিনি না খেলে, বরং নিজের দলে কীভাবে বড় পজিশন নেয়া যায় এবং নিজের এলাকায় কীভাবে বড় নেতা হওয়া যায়, সে চেষ্টাই করতে হবে।”
