Badr Ali said, “Even if you come tempted by us, no one can go without our will.”

I said, “Why can’t we go?”

Badr Ali: – Those of us who are standing here with rifles are all skilled shooters. One can pierce the target at a distance of one and a half to two kilometers. If any of you want to escape, they will shoot at you from two kilometers away. And if you can escape, our agents will catch you. Because we have agents on both sides of the Jamuna river. They communicate with us through our own wireless system.

I : – If your shooters can hit a target two kilometers away, then they should participate in the Olympics. If they do that, they will definitely win the gold medal for Bangladesh. And if you renounce militancy and surrender your weapons and equipment, you may be able to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Hearing this, Badr Ali laughed and said, “This boy, are you stupid or not?”

I: – Why are you saying this?

Badr Ali: – You want to take us back from the gold mine by showing copper greed. We have spent over one hundred crore taka to build this base. What do we get by submitting these? And is there any guarantee that we will win the Nobel Peace Prize if we submit? And if we get, then how much money can we get by sharing one million kroner? How much gold and money will they get to win gold medal in the Olympics ?

I: – So what are you getting by doing militant work?

Badr Ali: – We are getting and will get a lot.

I: – What kind.

Badr Ali:- The money we spent on building this base was given to us by our supporters at home and abroad. The weapons were also given by a millionaire arms dealer. They are also paying for all our expenses. We will gain the power of the country through jihad. If I can’t, I will be martyred by jihad.

I: – I understand your intentions, but what is the benefit of those who are cooperating with you?

Badr Ali: – Those who are giving money, they will be MP – Minister. The arms dealer will sell us billions of dollars worth of weapons.

I: – So you are involved in militancy because of this huge interest and purpose?

বদর আলি বলল, ” আমাদের দ্বারা প্রলুব্ধ হয়ে তোমরা এলেও আমাদের ইচ্ছা ছাড়া কেউই যেতে পারবে না। “

আমি বললাম, ” কেন যেতে পারব না ? “

বদর আলি :- আমাদের এই স্থানে যারা রাইফেল নিয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে, ওরা সকলেই দক্ষ শ্যুটার। একেকজন দেড় থেকে দুই কিলোমিটার দূরের লক্ষ্য ভেদ করতে পারে। তোমাদের কেউ পালিয়ে যেতে চাইলে দুই কিলোমিটার দূর থেকেই তোমাদেরকে গুলি করবে। আর যদি তোমরা পালিয়ে যেতে পার, তাহলেও তোমাদেরকে আমাদের এজেন্টরা ধরতে পারবে। কেননা, যমুনার দুপাশেই আমাদের এজেন্ট আছে। ওরা আমাদের সঙ্গে নিজস্ব ওয়্যারলেসের মাধ্যমে যোগাযোগ বজায় রাখে।

আমি :- আপনাদের শ্যুটাররা দুই কিলোমিটার দূরের লক্ষ্য ভেদ করতে পারে, তাহলে তাদের উচিত অলিম্পিক প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহণ করার। ওরা যদি সেটা করে, তবে নিশ্চিতভাবেই বাংলাদেশের পক্ষে গোল্ড মেডেল জিততে পারবে। আর আপনারা যদি জঙ্গিবাদ ত্যাগ করে নিজেদের অস্ত্র ও জিনিসপত্র জমা দিয়ে দেন, তাহলে হয়ত শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজও পেতে পারেন।

আমার এই কথা শোনে বদর আলি হোঃ হোঃ করে হেসে উঠে বলল, ” এই ছেলে, তুমি বোকা নাকি ? “

আমি :- কেন এটা বলছেন ?

বদর আলি :- আমাদেরকে তুমি তামার লোভ দেখিয়ে সোনার খনি থেকে ফেরাতে চাচ্ছ। আমরা এই ঘাঁটি তৈরি করতে এক শো কোটি টাকার বেশি খরচ করেছি। এগুলো জমা দিয়ে আমরা কী পাব ? আর জমা দিলেই যে শান্তিতে নোবেল প্রাইজ পাব, এর কোন গ্যারান্টি আছে কি ? আর যদি পাই, তাহলে দশ লাখ ক্রোনা ভাগাভাগি করে একেকজন কত টাকা করে পাব ? আবার অলিম্পিকে সোনা জিতে কতটা সোনা আর টাকা পাব ?

আমি :- তাহলে আপনারা জঙ্গিবাদি কাজ করে কী পাচ্ছেন ?

বদর আলি :- অনেক কিছু পাচ্ছি এবং পাব।

আমি :- কী রকম।

বদর আলি :- আমরা এই ঘাঁটি তৈরিতে যে টাকা খরচ করেছি, সেগুলো আমাদেরকে দিয়েছেন দেশে ও বিদেশে থাকা আমাদের সমর্থকরা। অস্ত্রগুলোও দিয়েছেন একজন ধনকুবের অস্ত্র ব্যবসায়ী। আমাদের সকল খরচের টাকাও তিনিরা দিচ্ছেন। আমরা জিহাদ করে দেশের ক্ষমতা অর্জন করব। যদি না পারি, তবে জিহাদ করে শহিদ হব।

আমি :- আপনাদের উদ্দেশ্য তো বুঝলাম, কিন্তু যারা আপনাদেরকে সহযোগিতা করছেন, তাদের কী লাভ ?

বদর আলি :- যিনিরা টাকা দিচ্ছে, ওরা এমপি – মন্ত্রী হবেন। যে অস্ত্র ব্যবসায়ী অস্ত্র দিচ্ছেন, আমাদের কাছে তিনি বিলিয়ন ডলারের অস্ত্র বিক্রি করবেন।

আমি :- তাহলে কি আপনারা এই বিরাট স্বার্থ ও উদ্দেশ্যের কারণেই জঙ্গিবাদে জড়িয়েছেন ?
