After arriving at the hotel, I slept in my room till noon.







The political debate started again at lunch time.







Didi (Elder Sister) : – Bangladesh is very important in South Asian politics.







Ratul: – That is from the time of Emperor Humayun, Sher Shah, Akbar and Aurangzeb. The Bengali partition of Lord Curzon in 1905, and the annexation in 1911 – all in all, Bangladesh is important.







Didi: – We have information that some peoples in Bangladesh persuade separatists in the north-east of India and Chhattisgarh in various ways.







Ratul: – This is not new either. After 1947, the military officers of East Pakistan also incited the peoples of Northeast India against India. For this reason, India had to launch air strikes to suppress rebels in parts of Assam. After the Civil War, the new state of Mizoram was formed separately from Assam. For all these reasons, Bangladesh is still important today. Bangladesh is especially important to China because of its location on the border of India and Myanmar and proximity of Bangladesh to China and large population of Bangladesh.







After eating I went to my room.







Later in the evening, Anil called me and said, “Ratul sir, tell me to come to the roof with your diary.” When I went to the roof with the diary, Ratul said, “What do you write in your diary when you have time ? I promise, I will not steal your writing. I will not claim to have written it – although I have claimed that, I killed the tiger. ” Ratul smiled again.







Ratul took my diary in his hand. He looked at me with wide eyes and said, “Oh my God. No one has written about such a complex subject from Plato-Aristotle to Marx-Russell. And the aim of your hand is deadly. Have you ever fired a rifle before?”







I said, “No.”







– So what if you kill the tiger with just one shot so quickly?







– I used to kill birds by slingshot when I was boy. At one time I used to kill flying pigeons, horial (jungle pigeons) and even sparrows with heavy airgun.







– Got it. It is because of that habit that you have been able to kill the tiger so quickly. However, I think writing is better than a weapon in your hand. Shall I say something?







– What?







– If civil war starts in Bangladesh, you will not fight that war. It will not do you any good. You will fight and the leaders of political parties will reap the benefits. And the connection between India and Bangladesh is even more complicated. If India-Bangladesh is reunited, the Delhi and Dhaka-centric politicians will benefit more than you or me. And the peoples on the border who will benefit will probably not remember you or me. But in the future it may be that when the normal public is upset and the army is upset because of a dictatorial ruler of Bangladesh – then maybe dictatorial will take the public initiative to link Bangladesh with India for his own last defense.







– What are you talking about?







Ratul then said with a mysterious smile, “You will understand later. But even that time, you will write. I firmly believe that, every one of your writings will be a new addition to the world of knowledge.”







The words of Ratul actually seemed important to me.







I said, “You write something in my diary and give an autograph.”







Ratul then wrote, “Things acquired with knowledge are more noble and enduring than those acquired with weapons. – Red.”







I said, “Did Red write that?”







Ratul said, “My code name in the Secret Service is Red. And red means Ratul.” Saying this, Ratul smiled mysteriously again. He said, “Keep the shotgun in your room now, give it to me before going to Bangladesh. But you will go to Bangladesh and write more.”







I said, “Mao Zedong has taken over China at gunpoint. And even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Maoist communist China is improving.”







Ratul said, “If Mao Zedong could not seize power in China, he would still be remembered as a philosopher of the politics.”







I came back to the room again. I left my diary and pen next to the shotgun on the bed and watched the news on TV.







I brushed my teeth and slept after dinner. Beside were pens, diary and shotgun.







* At about two in the night , I was awakened by the sound of screams and shouts. I heard someone in the corridor shouting, “Extremists are attacking and shooting at the hotel.”







I looked out the window and saw, Two hotel staff. They said this and went upstairs to the roof.







Ratul and Anil immediately ran towards the corridor with pistols in their hands. I also took the shotgun in my hand, pulled the slide and loaded it, came out of the room and stood in the dark part of the corridor.







After a while, a man came up the corridor with an AK-47 rifle in his hand. I fired with shotgun and the man also fired at Ratul and Anil. Shotgun and AK-47 shots made loud sound in the corridor. And a lot of bullets came out of that man’s AK-47 and hit the wall next to Ratul and Anil.







Explosive bullets cut off part of the man’s body.







Outside, I saw firing was going on among other CBI agents and extremists.







After a while, the extremists surrendered.







Ratul took the shotgun from my hand and said to Anil, “You will tell our agents and other peoples that, you shot the extremist leader.”



After saying this, Ratul told me, “You should enter the room quickly.”







I also entered the room without saying another word. I entered the AC room and sweated a bit. In self-defense and to save the two persons , I shot and killed the extremist outlaw (Will Continued).

হোটেলে আগমনের পরে দুপুর পর্যন্ত যার যার রুমে ঘুমালাম।



দুপুরের খাওয়ার সময় আবার শুরু হলো রাজনৈতিক তর্ক।



দিদি : – দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার রাজনীতিতে বাংলাদেশ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।



রাতুল : – সেটা সম্রাট হুমায়ুন , শেরশাহ্ , আকবার এবং ঔরঙ্গজেবের আমল থেকেই। 1905 সালে লর্ড কার্জনের বাংলা ভাগ , আবার 1911 সালে সংযুক্তি – সকল কিছু মিলিয়েই বাংলাদেশ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।



দিদি : – আমাদের কাছে তথ্য আছে , বাংলাদেশের কিছু লোক ভারতের উত্তর – পূর্বাঞ্চল আর ছত্রিশগড়ের বিচ্ছিন্নতাবাদীদেরকে বিভিন্নভাবে প্ররোচনা দেয়।



রাতুল : – এটাও নতুন না। 1947 সালের পরে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের মিলিটারি অফিসাররাও ভারতের উত্তর – পূর্বাঞ্চলের লোকদেরকে উষ্কানি দিতো ভারতের বিরুদ্ধে। এই কারণে আসামের একাংশের বিদ্রোহীদেরকে দমন করার জন্য ভারতকে বিমান হামলা করতে হয়েছিলো। ঐ গৃহযুদ্ধের পরেই আসাম থেকে আলাদা করে নতুন অঙ্গরাজ্য মিজোরাম গঠন করা হয়। এই সকল কারণেই বাংলাদেশ আজও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। বিশেষ করে ভারত আর মায়ানমারের সীমান্তবর্তী আর চীনের কাছাকাছি অবস্হান ও বিশাল জনসংখ্যার দেশ হওয়ার কারণেও বাংলাদেশ চীনের কাছে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।



খাওয়ার পরে যে যার রুমে চলে এলাম।



সন্ধ্যার পরে আমাকে অনিল ডেকে বললো , ” রাতুল স্যার বলেছেন , আপনার ডায়েরিটা নিয়ে ছাদে আসার জন্য। ” ডায়েরি নিয়ে আমি ছাদে গেলে রাতুল বললো , ” তুমি ডায়েরিতে সময় পেলেই কী লিখো ? কথা দিচ্ছি , তোমার লিখা আমি চুরি করবো না। মানে , তোমার লিখাকে আমার লিখা বলে দাবি করবো না – যদিও তোমার দ্বারা বাঘ মারাকে আমার দ্বারা বলে দাবি করেছি। ” এই কথা বলে রাতুল আবার মুচকি মুচকি হাসতে লাগলো।



আমার ডায়েরিটা রাতুল হাতে নিয়ে পড়লো। পড়ে চোখ দুটো বড় বড় করে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে বললো , ” ও মাই গড। এতো জটিল বিষয়ে তো প্লেটো – এ্যারিস্টটল থেকে মার্ক্স – রাসেল , কেউই লিখেননি। আর তোমার হাতের নিশানাও তো মারাত্মক। তুমি কি আগে কখনও রাইফেল চালিয়েছিলে ? “



আমি বললাম , ” না। ”



– তাহলে এত ক্ষিপ্রভাবে মাত্র একটা গুলি করেই বাঘটাকে মারলে কী করে ?



– ছোটবেলায় গুলতি মেরে পাখি মারতাম। এক সময় ভারী এয়ারগান দিয়ে উড়ন্ত কবুতর , হরিয়াল – এমনকি চড়ুই পাখিও মারতাম।



– বুঝেছি। সেই অভ্যাসের কারণেই এতো ক্ষিপ্রভাবে বাঘটাকে মারতে পেরেছো। তবে , আমি মনে করি , তোমার হাতে অস্ত্রের চেয়ে লেখালেখিই বেশি ভালো। আমি একটা কথা বলবো ?



– কী ?



– বাংলাদেশে যদি গৃহযুদ্ধও শুরু হয় , তুমি সেই যুদ্ধ করবানা। এটা করে তোমার কোন লাভই হবে না। যুদ্ধ করবা তুমি আর ফায়দা লুটবে রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতারা। আর ভারত – বাংলাদেশের সংযুক্তি , সেটাতো আরও জটিল বিষয়। ভারত – বাংলাদেশ যদি আবারও যুক্ত হয় , তবুও তোমার অথবা আমার চেয়েও বেশি লাভ হবে দিল্লি আর ঢাকা কেন্দ্রীক রাজনীতিকদেরই। আর সীমান্তবর্তী যে সকল লোকেরা সুবিধা ভোগ করবে , ওরাও হয়তো তোমার অথবা আমার কথা মনে রাখবেননা। কিন্তু ভবিষ্যতে হয়তো এমন হতে পারে , বাংলাদেশের কোন একনায়ক শাসকের কারণে যখন সাধারণ জনগণ বিরক্ত হবে , সেনাবাহিনী বিক্ষুব্ধ হবে – তখন হয়তো তিনিই নিজের শেষ রক্ষার জন্য বাংলাদেশকে ভারতের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করার প্রকাশ্য উদ্যোগ নিবেন।



– এটা আপনি কী বলছেন ?



রাতুল তখন রহস্যময় হাসি দিয়ে বললো , ” পরে ঠিকই বুঝবা। কিন্তু তখনও তুমি লিখবা। আমার দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস , তোমার প্রতিটা লিখাই হবে জ্ঞানের জগতে নতুন সংযোজন। ”



কথাগুলো সত্যিই আমার কাছে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মনে হলো।



আমি বললাম , ” আমার ডায়েরিতে আপনি কিছু একটা লিখে অটোগ্রাফ দেন। ”



রাতুল তখন লিখলো , ” অস্ত্র দিয়ে অর্জিত বিষয়ের চেয়ে জ্ঞান দিয়ে অর্জিত বিষয় বেশি মহৎ ও স্হায়ী হয়। – Red. “



আমি বললাম , ” Red লিখলেন যে ? ”



রাতুল বললো , ” সিক্রেট সার্ভিসে আমার কোড নেম , Red. আর Red মানে লাল , লাল মানে রাতুল। ” এই কথা বলে , রাতুল আবার রহস্যময় মুচকি হাসলো। বললো , ” শটগানটা এখন তোমার রুমেই থাকুক , বাংলাদেশে যাওয়ার আগে আমাকে দিয়ে যেও। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশে গিয়ে আরও লিখবা। ”



আমি বললাম , ” মাও সে তুঙ – ও তো বন্দুকের দ্বারা চীনের ক্ষমতা নিয়েছেন। এবং সোভিয়েত ইউনিয়ন বিলুপ্ত হলেও মাওবাদী কমিউনিস্ট চীন আরো উন্নত হচ্ছে। ”



রাতুল বললো , ” যদি মাও সে তুঙ চীনের ক্ষমতা দখল করতে না পারতেন , তাহলেও তিনি রাজনীতির দার্শনিক হিসেবে স্মরণীয় হতেন। ”



আমি আবার রুমে ফিরে এলাম। বিছানায় শটগানটার পাশে আমার ডায়েরি আর কলমটা রেখে টিভিতে সংবাদ দেখলাম।



রাতের খাবারের পরে দাঁত ব্রাশ করে শুইলাম। পাশে রইলো কলম , ডায়েরি আর শটগান।



* রাত প্রায় দুটার সময় চিৎকার আর গুলাগুলির শব্দে আমার ঘুম ভাঙলো। শুনলাম , করিডরে কারা যেন , চিৎকার করে বলছে , ” হোটেলে উগ্রবাদীরা হামলা করে গুলাগুলি করছে। ”



আমি জানালা দিয়ে তাকিয়ে দেখলাম , ” হোটেলের দুজন স্টাফ। ” ওরা এই কথা বলে ছাদের সিঁড়ি দিয়ে উপরে উঠে গেল।



পরক্ষণেই করিডরের এক দিকে রাতুল আর অনিল হাতে পিস্তল নিয়ে ছুটে গেলো। আমিও শটগানটা হাতে নিয়ে স্লাইড টেনে লোড করে রুম থেকে বের হয়ে করিডরের অন্ধকার অংশে দাঁড়িয়ে রইলাম।



কিছুক্ষণ পরে একজন হাতে একে-47 রাইফেল নিয়ে করিডরে উঠে এলো। রাতুল আর অনিলের দিকে গুলি করা শুরু করবে , এমন সময় আমিই শটগান দিয়ে গুলি করলাম আর সেই লোকটাও গুলি করলো রাতুল আর অনিলের দিকে। করিডরে শটগান আর একে – 47 এর গুলিতে প্রচণ্ড আওয়াজ হলো। আর ঐ লোকের একে – 47 থেকে অনেকটি গুলি বের হয়ে রাতুলদের পাশের দেয়ালে আঘাত করলো।



এক্সপ্লোসিভ বুলেটের আঘাতে লোকটার একটা অংশ দেহ থেকে ছিন্ন – ভিন্ন হলো।



বাইরে দেখলাম , সিবিআইয়ের অন্যান্য এজেন্ট আর উগ্রবাদীদের মধ্যে গুলাগুলি।



কিছুক্ষণ পরেই উগ্রবাদীরা আত্মসমর্পণ করলো।



আমার হাত থেকে শটগানটা রাতুল নিয়ে অনিলকে দিয়ে বললো , ” আমাদের এজেন্ট এবং অন্যান্য লোকদেরকে বলবি , উগ্রবাদী নেতাকে তুই গুলি করে মেরেছিস। ”

এই কথা বলে রাতুল আমাকে বললো , ” তুমি তাড়াতাড়ি রুমে ঢুকো। ”



আমিও আর কোন কথা না বলে রুমে ঢুকলাম। এসি রুমে ঢুকেও কিছুটা ঘামলাম। আত্মরক্ষা ও দুজনকে বাঁচাতে উগ্রবাদী আউট ল’ কে গুলি করে খুন করলাম (চলবে)। © All Rights Reserved
